Supporting K.E.L.I.I.

by Nov 1, 2017

Harbor West Oahu is committed to supporting the K.E.L.I.I. Foundation, which is why we’re encouraging people to come help clean up Kalaeloa Beach Park this Saturday. Not only will our community get a little cleaner, but the K.E.L.I.I. Foundation will receive a grant which will help them continue to serve and bless many families in our community.

The Keiki Education Living Independent Institute was founded by the Haole Family. I asked Auntie Noni to share a bit of the reason why K.E.L.I.I. exists and what they do.

What led you to start the K.E.L.I.I. Foundation?
Keiki Education Living Independent Institute (K.E.L.I.I.) was brought into existence on June 20, 2012, by the Haole family and was named after our child Kelii, who has a genetic neurodevelopment disorder. We decided to start the foundation after Kelii had a reaction from two vaccines that gave him brain damage, GOD placed this foundation on my heart to help families. As we help other families this heals and helps my heart.

What is the mail goal of the K.E.L.I.I. Foundation?
The mission of K.E.L.I.I. is to help individuals with autism and other special needs to have a higher quality of life, including transitioning out of the Department of Education to adulthood, and teaching independent living. Since there’s nothing comparable to what we’re trying to do in the entire state of Hawaii, we desire to build a multi-disciplinary center that houses different therapeutic programs and agencies including (but not limited to):

  • Adult independent living facility & Training
  • Brain treatment center
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Applied behavioral analysis therapy
  • Massage therapy
  • Education
  • Medical treatment
  • Job skills training
  • Job opportunities within the facility
  • Advocacy programs
  • Recreation (farming, aquaponics, farmers market, hair salon, movie theater, fitness facility)

How can Harbor West Oahu be praying for you?
A main prayer request right now is to be able to raise funds or have doors of opportunity open to be able to build a multi-disciplinary center.

Mahalo to Aunti Noni for answering our questions, for working tirelessly to bless people in our community, and for being a light for Jesus along the way. If you’d like to know more about the K.E.L.I.I. Foundation you can check out their website, or come join us on November 4th to help clean up the beach park.
