Time To Celebrate!
Harbor Church West Oahu is launching, and it’s party time! We have so much to celebrate! Celebrating is a great, God-honoring way to recognize and tell about God’s goodness in our lives. Paul saw some reasons to celebrate when he wrote to the church in Colossae in Colossians 1. Here are some things he celebrated that Harbor West is also celebrating as we launch.
The Church Was a Family
Paul says that these people are “in Christ.” It was Jesus that united them together. There are many reasons that someone could come to church: you love the music, free childcare, it makes your family happy, there’s nice people there, and university students come for the occasional free food! But Paul was celebrating because it was Jesus that united this church. They came together because they all loved Jesus. That’s what unites our church as well!
They Have Grace and Peace
Paul extends God’s grace and peace to these people, which is reminding them of the grace and peace that they’ve experienced from God already. These people were once God’s enemies, and then they were given God’s grace. Because of that, God is not their enemy anymore, He is their friend! They have peace with God now. What better reason is there to celebrate than that?!
They Have Faith, Love, and Hope
These three come up a lot in the Bible, and most scholars believe that this is Paul’s way of summarizing genuine Christianity; what it really looks like to follow Jesus. What’s interesting is that we can’t create these qualities in ourselves. Faith in God, love for Him and others, and hope in the future are gifts that God gives us. Paul’s celebrating that God has given these believers such amazing gifts! And what do we do when we’re given an awesome gift on our birthday or Christmas? We celebrate!
Harbor Church West Oahu has all of these things. We’re celebrating the launch of our church. We’re celebrating the good gifts that God had given to us. We’re celebrating that we are a family in Jesus. There’s room in this party for you in this party! Come and celebrate with us.
